Meet Rudy

Rootin Tuttin Rudy! Meet the man of your dreams, Rudy! Rudy is a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever/Hound mix and he is currently on the search for his forever family!

Rudy was rescued from Swainsboro, Georgia where he was dumped in a kill shelter begging for a second chance. Rudy likely lived the entirety of his early life outdoors and had also suffered a past injury to his front left foot. Rudy was seen by an orthopedic specialist at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls to determine whether he would need surgery. It was concluded that the growth plate in Rudy's left wrist had been broken at a very young age and had since healed and calcified leaving him with what's called radius curvus syndrome. Rudy does not need surgery as he walks and runs pain-free!

Rudy is fully grown at about 58 lbs! Rudy loves to run around in his fenced-in backyard. He doesn't have a favorite toy yet but he is working on picking his new best friend out. He loves to show his foster mom how fast he can run and he knows how to apply the breaks. Rudy is super sweet and loving and cannot wait to show his new family the amazing dog he can be for them! Rudy loves to show his affection by giving you all the hugs you could ask for. Rudy does really well with other dogs and loves to play endlessly in his fosters fenced-in yard with his foster siblings.

Rudy is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.

Given the conditions Rudy originated from, upon rescue, he tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Rudy has completed his/her Heartworm treatment.

*Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.*

**Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org**
