Rubi's Story
Rubi is a 2-year-old, 15-pound female chihuahua mix from Tijuana.

She has adjusted very well during her time in NYC, walking well on a leash and exploring the city streets with curiosity. She has not had any accidents inside since her first day after getting comfortable with her new life/schedule.

She is a super sweet dog who wants lots of pets when you are giving her attention. She doesn't seem to need a ton of exercise or stimulation to keep her occupied, and seems very content lounging around for the rest of the time. She is a little confused about toys still (she plays with her rope toy by rolling on it!), but she is learning! She has spent most of her days happily snoozing in her bed while her foster mom works from home.

She is food motivated and eager to learn.

While her foster family is not home, she cries a little in her crate, although she seems to settle after a little while. She's generally happiest knowing someone's nearby. She sleeps well in her crate overnight.

So far she is a little wary of dogs she meets on the street, standing behind her foster mom's legs and peeking around to get a safe look. She'll say hi to dogs once she determines they are not a threat. She's very friendly with people. She has not had experience with children or cats that we know of.

Rubi would likely do well with a low key, medium or active family.

Vaccinated for rabies and DHPP. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Rubi is positive for erlichia and is being treated with 30 days of doxycycline. Flea, tick, and heartworm prevention due 4/11.

Please contact us DIRECTLY using the instructions below if you are interested in adopting one of our Waggytails!
