Royce Saluki Mix Mississauga, ON
- Coat length
- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered.
Meet Royce. Royce recently came to Canada from Bahrain where he and his dog pals were intentionally abandoned in a remote and uninhabited area without food or water. Royce is so happy to have been given a second chance though and is described as a cuddly, sweet, loving, friendly and playful dog. His favorite things include playing tug of war with his rope toys, chewing on tennis balls and bone, stuffies and snuggling with his humans! Royce is a well-mannered boy that wants nothing more than your love and affection. He loves to make new friends and it doesn’t take him long before he’s rewarding you with hugs and kisses.
Royce is an adaptable boy and would make a great addition to most families so long as they have the time and patience for him while he learns to how to be a “dog”! He would love a home with a fenced yard, but could adjust to condo living in a quieter area if he received the exercise he needs. Royce has not had any exposure children but would likely do okay with respectful older kids. He can still bit a bit mouthy in play though and so his new family should be willing to work with him on this. Royce has not much interaction to other dogs since his arrival but should do okay with other polite dogs if proper introductions are made. He is a people dog through and through though and would probably be happiest as the only pet in the home. He is not cat tested.
Royce is medium energy and does best with a 30 min walk before and after work plus potty breaks and play time. He walks very nicely on leash and will come when you ask him to. He loves to sniff and explore his surroundings and would appreciate a family who will take him on lots of outdoor adventures.
Royce has not been left home for long and if his new family works, they should be prepared for an adjustment period while he learns it’s okay to be alone. He does not like to be crated and may bark or cry. He would do best with free reign of a small, puppy proofed space as he is still learning what is and is not an appropriate chew toy. When provided with consistent opportunities to go outside, Royce is potty trained.
Royce is a smart boy and already knows sit and “come”. He would appreciate family willing to invest in a basic obedience class so he can continue to learn and grow in confidence.
