She loves sunshine and warmth and since winter has descended upon Minnesota, she has been in search of the perfect winter outfit to keep her warm. She would not say no to wintering in Arizona with her humans! One of her favorite spots right now is snuggled up near the heat vent! Royalty will lay on her back, all legs straight up in the air, let out some grunts, and take in all the warmth from the vent in a state of complete happiness. It’s adorable!
Did someone say cheese? Royalty LOVES cheese and it has been a great way to administer her needed medication. She also loves showing off her tricks like “sit” and “shake” … for a cheese snack of course!
An irresistible sweetheart who will melt your heart, Royalty thrives in a quiet and calm environment filled with love and affection. She adores her humans and will cherish them always! She responds extremely well to clear instructions, calm emotions, and positive body language. If there are children in her forever home, we are strongly recommending that they be older and dog-savvy, understanding Royalty’s needs.
Royalty has the best time on walks with her humans each day with opportunities to sniff all the good smells too! And she loves her humans so much she has been known to participate to the best of her ability in yoga workouts.
When outside, Royalty enjoys conversing with the squirrels in the yard. A fenced yard would be fantastic for her and is high on her list as her favorite activity, other than smother her humans with cuteness and love, is laying out in the sunshine. And Royalty has proven her agility capabilities by hopping over a 4-foot fence so a 6-foot fence would be preferred.
She would also prefer a home without shared walls as she will vocally let you know she is bummed that you are leaving the home for a bit and how excited she is that you are back!
Royalty loves spending time in her spacious crate – it is safe space where she feels secure and can enjoy breaks or naps when her humans are away. Royalty is house-trained but has had a few accidents in her bed which are possibly due to diuretics.
Royalty is cool with other well-behaved dogs that are her size but would much rather be the only dog in the home receiving all the love and affection! She has yet to differentiate between squirrels and small dogs and so she should only be around small dogs with constant and active supervision. No cats for this girl!
Sweet, sweet Royalty had surgery to repair an abnormal heart valve on September 23, 2021. A procedure called balloon valvuloplasty. Her surgery went fantastic, and the vet team shared they saw improvement with her heart immediately! By taking the pressure off with the valve repair, the right side of her heart will have to work less hard, and specialists are optimistic that some or all the damage will reverse. What we don’t know is how long this will take. At her recheck on October 22, the cardiologist was happy to find that the right side of her heart was already showing progress of healing itself. Her energy has improved dramatically! She is still on a few medications to continue to give her heart time to heal, but her cardiologist remains hopeful that she will be able to reduce some of them.
Royalty, an incredibly loving companion who adores her humans, has made large strides in living her best life. She has blossomed into a happy and healthy girl bringing joy to everyone around her. She cannot wait to find her loving home where she will be cherished!
