Meet Royal (New Digs)
Introducing Royal, the loveable yet independent baby girl! Royal celebrated her 1st birthday in December. She lives with her brother Miller (who is also up for adoption). She has stopped growing and weighs 85 lbs. Based on her Wisdom Panel results, Royal is 72% Great Pyrenees, 13% Anatolian Shepherd Dog, 5% American Pit Bull Terrier, 3% Maremma Sheepdog, and 2% German Shepherd Dog. These results also cleared her of many conditions that could impact early vet visits. She is up to date on all vaccines. Her annual shots will be due at the end of March. She takes monthly Heartguard and Nexguard. She regularly goes to the vet to get her nails trimmed. She is microchipped, crate trained and potty trained. Everyone is always impressed at how well she does at the vets office. She just lets them do what needs to be done. Royal LOVES to be outside. She will hangout in the backyard all day, no matter what the weather. She is always up for an adventure, participating in a 5k (we only walked - I dont run), lounging on the top step of a friend's pool, or going on long walks. During the 5k she wanted everyone to pet her but during the walk she stayed focused on walking even with lots of distractions. She enjoys doing her own thing as well, not demanding a lot of attention (maybe because her brother Miller always gets jealous and interrupts those moments). She likes to be active but will also be the little spoon for naps. She constantly wants her butt scratched and plops over for belly rubs. She has gone to the Pooch Hotel in Richardson on and off since April for the all day dog play and enjoys playing with other dogs. Shes been around kids and small dogs a little with no issue. Her foster family that had her also had kids, cats, and other dogs and reported no issues. She knows some basic commands such as sit, food, treat, come, and house (my word for crate). She is highly food motivated and willing to learn. Overall Royal is a great dog but she does have some minor issues (mostly because of lack of training, lack of activity, and lack of consistency on my part). She rarely barks except when other dogs in the neighborhood start barking (there are a lot of dogs). She likes to chew - the rug, the couch, and her dog bed. This has been minimized by keeping Benebone bacon flavored Wishbone Tough Dog Chew toy handy. She also likes to dig in the backyard (not to escape). She is a little more sensitive to food changes or excessive treats causing her to throw up (this hasnt happened in a few months because I really monitor everything). She has become a bit picky with her food as well. I feed her Hills Science Diet Puppy Large Breed but now top it with Stella and Chewys Maries Magical Dinner Freeze-Dried Raw Dust Grass-fed Beef Dog Food Topper. Royal isnt fazed by much and open to trying new things. If you're looking for a dog to explore and cuddle shes for you. She will be your little spoon, your hiking buddy, yet wants to maintain some independence to do her own thing.
