Meet Roxy
Roxy is an affectionate, lovable girl who needs someone to show her what it is to be a family member.
She is fully house trained and alerts when she has to go out. She is fed twice a day. She may be a bit touchy about her food until she realizes it will always be given. As she was a bit underweight when she arrived here, it is understandable that she has to learn to trust that she will consistently be fed.
Ruby is a playful puppy and can entertain herself with her toys. She enjoys durable chew toys. Antlers and a Kong have been favorites. She readily shares toys with the resident dogs. There is no resource guarding. She enjoys a game of fetch with her person. She will drop her rope toy in a lap to ask for a game of tug.
Ruby can become mouthy when playing and is responding to correction for that. She will need continued consistent correction to learn that mouthiness and jumping up are not appropriate ways to show happiness.
At 6 months old she is still learning manners and good behaviors. She knows “sit” and is working on “leave it”. She responds well to positive reinforcement and especially loves treats for a job well done. As she is food motivated she is proving a quick learner. She is easy to redirect when the reward is a treat.
