*11/14/19- ROXY has been vomiting again, so we have added a 4th feeding before she goes to bed, 1/2 Pepcid twice a day, Forta Flora on her food in AM, and eating from a slow eating bowl. We will head to Vet if this isn't resolved. She had lost weight but it is back up. She is still running, playing, getting into everything so hasn't slowed her down.
*10/3/19-ROXY, 47 lbs, is now 1 year old. Adoption fee changed to $275. She has been in a Foster home for 7 months working on behaviors. She is a sweet, stubborn, total handful of energetic, rough Boxer puppy and gets into everything. Adopter needs the time and energy to supervise her. Please read all about her.
* 7/28/19- Over the last several months, Roxy had reaction to Trifexis and then to Interceptor Plus, with nausea and diarrhea. Today she got a ProHeart shot for 6 months heartworm prevention, recommended by the Vet, with Benadryl and Cortisone shots. She will have to be watched by a Vet when she needs heartworm prevention and flea/tick medication as she is very sensitive to medications. She can't have Comfortis as that was in the Trifexis.
* 7/1/19- Vet recommended changing her food to see if it helps the diarrhea. She is back on Royal Canin Boxer Puppy (30 lbs for $70).
* 7/4/19- ROXY has had 4 more allergic reactions to bug bites/stings. She has had huge welts all over her head, neck and body. She has a lot of itching, She gets liquid Benadryl and Pepcid for a reaction and taken quickly to the Vet if severe and needs a shot. She is not showing allergy reaction to grass, weeds, dust, etc,. She doesn't want to eat after these reactions for a day or two and gets nausea and diarrhea.
FIRST POST- 4/20/18- ROXY is 7 months old, DOB 9/18/18, and 40 lbs.. **She was an owner surrender from an older couple, due to being defiant, chewing up things, biting/scratching, knocking them down, and too rough on the young grandkids and adults. We got her spayed, up to date on shots/rabies, microchipped, fecal/heartworm negative, and on heartworm prevention. *She was 5 months old when we rescued her on 2/20/19. She is brindle on one side and one leg and the other side and other leg is fawn and brindle. She is the cutest gal and a sweetie with a sassy rough side.
Her best buddy is 2 year old ASTRO (deaf and up for adoption). They play hard and it helps expend her high energy. Astro doesn't get mad with her when she is too rough, but will hide if had enough or go to sleep. She has several Boxers in her home she plays with and cuddles with on her down time. She does growl and bark very loud. *She needs a large friendly male dog in her new home to be her playmate and buddy. She needs non dominant dogs who don't mind her in their face or on top of them as she gets to know them and matures.
When she sees dogs or kids at the Vet or PetsMart, she lunges and jumps at them no matter the size of the dogs or ages of the kids. There are no kids in her Foster Home. She does jump up on people when excited. She has NO experience with cats. *Best with no kids.* She may work with older experienced teenagers. She would have to meet them to see how she does, as can be rough. No younger kids or young grand kids to make her transition successful into a forever home. With kids also comes a lot more things for her to chew and get into.
She is crate trained in a plastic crate. She HAS TO BE CRATED when you are not home or very destructive. She has been crated up to 4 hours at a time. She sleeps in her crate, due to getting into things and some potty accidents. She is very excited and rough when she gets out of her crate. Roxy is very active, strong, and needs supervision indoors and outdoors as she is a chewer and quick. She is house trained, but could have an accident. Home and yard need to be doggie safe. Adopter needs to be physically able to handle an active Boxer and have Boxer experience with behavior issues.
She is very smart and knows sit, down, shake, stay, leave it, and no, and has been to lessons at PetsMart. She is all active Boxer with rough play, very curious, smart, loving, stubborn, sweet, gives kisses, crawls in your lap, defiant if it not something she wants to do (like come in or stop digging, etc.), and is a chewer and licker, especially if she gets bored. She loves toys and balls that need to be safe and tough. Her favorite toy is a Babble Ball. She will dig holes in the yard.
She got stung by a wasp in the mouth. She went immediately to the Vet after giving her Benadryl. Her eyes were swollen shut, mouth, head, throat were huge, welts all over and trouble breathing. Vet gave her a shot and we gave her more Benadryl and she responded well.
She doesn't like getting her nails cut or dremeled and will try to bite, but is getting better. She is big wiggle butt for baths. She is not crazy about you grabbing her collar. She will fight you and is strong. She does best with an Easy Walk Harness. She can get scared outside of the Foster Home with loud noises or movement and can squirm out of a harness if doesn't fit correctly. We use a double clip leash and clip her collar and harness for safety. You have to have secure hold on her outside of the fenced in yard as "will run off".
**We are looking for the right home with the love, lots of attention, exercise, and continued training that she needs to be the best Boxer. She is a handful and gets into "everything", but also a sweet girl who will get in your lap to cuddle when she is tired. She is a Boxer puppy! She loves cuddling and playing with other dogs. She is not aggressive except sometimes when you grab her collar. She will run if she gets scared with a loud noise or something she is unsure about.
