Meet Roxie

My name is Roxie. Everyone who has ever met me, says I’m a very sweet girl. My arrival at LWR was quite an adventure. You see, I lived with my Mom and Dad all my life. That would be 6 years. My Dad seemed to like me a lot. He taught me to be a very well-mannered young lady. When I lived with my Mom and Dad, I lived on 6 acres and they would let me run around during the day, but at night I slept in a big pen. Sometimes critters would try to get into my outdoor home, and I didn’t like that very much. If it was cold, however, my Dad let me sleep at his feet in the basement while he watched TV. I was taken to the shelter because my parents were moving, and I couldn’t go with them. LWR jumped into action to make sure I didn’t have to stay there for very long. A very nice man picked me up from the shelter and took me to his house where he had two dogs that looked a lot like me! I got along just fine with them. I’ve really never been around anything that looked like me, so I was a little surprised. After a week, the nice man took me to my Foster Mom and Foster Dad. They have 2 dogs, but they are very small. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to them, but now I’ve found out how much fun having more friends like me can be! I have learned to “be a dog” and it is so much fun! The little dogs and I wrestle and chase each other, and I am tired by the end of the day. What can you expect from me? Well, like everyone says, I’m a very sweet girl. At first, I might be a little stand-offish (if that’s a word). I’ve been thru a lot of changes in a short amount of time. But I promise if you show me love, I will give you lots of love back. I am very gentle and loving and have found how much I like being inside with my foster family. I’m not food aggressive and when my Foster Mom gives me medicine with peanut butter on her finger, I don’t bite her or anything. I just lick the peanut butter like a good lady would. Sometimes, when the little doggies don’t eat all their food, I’ll go over to their bowl and try to eat what they don’t. Well one of the little dogs is kind of sassy and she will bark at me. I don’t get mad at her. I just walk away. But inside my head, I wonder why she didn’t eat all her food. After all, it is delicious! I do have a crate that I go into, but my Foster Mom has let me roam around the house even when no one is home. I have never gone potty in the house. I think that is a really good thing. At night, I’ll sleep about anywhere. If you make me go to my crate, that’s ok. Or if you want me to sleep with you, I can do that too. Sometimes I’ve even slept by myself in the chair. But whatever you want, will probably be just fine with me. Oh, speaking of medicine, that reminds me…My Foster Mom took me to the vet to have me “fixed”. It hurt a little bit but I’m ok now. Oh, I forgot to tell you that I am what they call “blue” in coloring. I like it! I’m up to date on all my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative and take a pill for heartworms and to keep fleas and ticks away each month. I am also microchipped. In a perfect world, I would love a yard where I can go out and smell things and look for all the critters that I know are out there somewhere! I really would like to have my forever home to be filled with love, kisses, and lots of snuggles. Would that be you?
