Meet Rover- Quick to bond, easy to love
We'd like to tell you a little story about an amazing dog who we call Rover.
Rover started his life out with a family and another dog. He grew up to love his people. He was never properly trained and when he got to his adult size of 65lbs, they decided he was too much for them to handle.
Rover came to Road to Home defeated. His people let him down. He needed discipline, boundaries, stimulation and enrichment. It wasn't long before he proved that he could in fact be taught. On his first day in boarding, he learned "paw". He now knows sit, down and is working on stay.
This boy attaches quickly to people. He'll be your best friend in the first hour of you meeting him. He's a big baby (despite being 6 years old) and his first inclination when getting excited is to jump, so children over 10 who can help with training would be best.
In his first life, Rover lived with an older female dog. He loved her very much. He is dog selective and for this reason, he needs to be the only dog in his forever home. No dog parks for this handsome fella.
This boy is balanced in energy. He'll be by your side on the couch while you watch your movies and outdoors with you showing off his ball fetching skills (the farther you throw, the better). He is smart and knows how to open a levered door handle, but not destructive so being crated isn't necessary although he has in the past slept in one through the night.
No apartments for "Rovie", he'd appreciate a fenced in yard where he gets plenty of outdoor time with you and his family. He's a BIG fan of car rides and understands exactly what a "pup cup" means (see photo).
