Name: Rosita
Weight: 42lbs
Age: 1 year
Gender: female
Spayed/Neutered: spayed
Breed: boxer mix
Colour: white with brown
Neck size (for collar):
Height (from top of head):
Length (from nose to base of tail):
Crate size recommended: can transport in a medium, but large wire
Good with women: yes
Good with men: yes
Good with kids: friendly, but does have a good energy and when she is playing tends to play rough by jumping and mouthing/nipping. For this reason older and dog savvy kids only for Rosita!
Good with other dogs: yes
Good with cats: No
House trained: yes
Crate trained: yes, sleeps through the night in her crate
Energy level: low end of high
Can be handled/touched: yes
Barker: No
Flight risk: yes, will run out open doors if given the chance, and can jump 6 foot fence. She’s just quite the adventurer and will need someone to teach her some impulse control around doorways as well as to supervise/keep her leashed in the yard until you are confident she won’t find a way out.
Food aggressive: have always fed separately. She does not like other dogs around her food!
Current food: chicken and rice
Walks on leash: yes, but does pull. She is very strong and will do better with a front lead harness and some training, which we have begun working on
Leash reactive to people or dogs: no
Rides well in car: yes
Destructive: Haven’t been given the opportunity, but I imagine she could be if not given the proper exercise outlets or toys
Needs a home with a yard: preferably; she is very athletic and can jump a 6 foot fence, so some type of privacy style fencing without areas for foot holds would be best. She is super friendly so my guess is she isn’t going to want to leave her people once integrated into a family
Needs a home with another dog: no
Can live in an apartment: not ideal
History: She was dumped on the side of the road by her most recent owner, who allegedly acquired her from someone that abused her. The new owner was told he could not have her in his apartment and instead of finding a safe place for her, he just dumped her and had her fend for herself.
FOSTER NOTES: Rosita is very affectionate and playful, she still acts like a puppy! She will definitely need someone that is strong and knows how to train, as she plays roughly and this isn’t a behaviour that we want to encourage in her new home. Someone who can teach her there's a time and place to play and be a crazy puppy but that she needs to know when to stop and calm down- in essence, this girl just needs some work on this, leash walking and some impulse control around doors. If she has an owner committed to doing this things she will make a wonderful, goofy, and loving companion.
