Meet Rosie (formerly Esther)

Last year Rosie (originally Esther), was adopted. We recently learned from her adopter that changes in his daily schedule made it difficult to meet Rosie/Esthers needs. The following is what we remember of Rosie/ Esther and what we posted on Petfinder at the time:

Esther is in our care but she really should not be! She arrived on the doorstep in 115 heat in the middle of July. Surely someone was looking for this sweet pooch. Aside from being tired, thirsty and waiting to come inside from the heat, this beautiful girl looked loved. Initially, we believed; it was just a matter of time until we would find her family. After the weeks had passed and our attempts to find her people were met with silence, we assumed ownership of Esther. We have promised Esther that we will find her a forever home that will love and spoil her till her final breathe. Esther is just so, so sweet. She gets along just fine with other dogs, she loves all people that she meets. Esther will NOT do well with cats as she is much too curious. Esther walks great on a leash and is perfect in a car. She goes in and out of the doggie door like a champ and helps herself up onto the couch for some cuddle time. Whomever adopts Esther ($200 donation), will have a heartfelt companion. She is very loving. There are moments when we feel Esther really misses her prior family and has bouts with anxiety. With a stable routine, she will thrive. She loves her walks and is a very attentive, as if she is looking for her former people. Who knows how or why Esther ended up on our doorstep .....but today all we can do is make sure her future is happy.

The following is a bio from Rosie's current family:

"Rosie is an energetic, goofy and incredibly gentle pit mix (we think it's catahoula leopard) who is probably 3-4 years old. She is friendly, if sometimes aloof, with humans of all ages (toddler tested and approved), gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is relatively low-maintenance so long as she gets regular walks (she's great on hiking trails!). Her only issue is that she is a runner, and will chase any cat or bunny if given the opportunity. In spite of lengthy training and a lot of love, she's never been responsive to calls when off leash, and will take the opportunity of any open door to go exploring. She has jumped over multiple tall brick walls (one almost six feet tall) to chase cats, so unless a backyard is extremely secure it's unwise to leave her unattended outside. She does get anxious if she's left at home without the ability to look out a window, but she is fully potty trained and never had an accident. Does not like crates at all. If you can accommodate that small amount of downside, you'll be rewarded with one of the most loveable dogs that's ever graced this earth".

We estimate Rosie/ Esther to be about four.
