Meet Rosie ADOPTED:)
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.
Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html
Rosie's owner in Waterloo, Iowa can no longer keep her so she is a Waverly Pet Rescue dog now. She is now up to date on shots, tested heartworm negative, and spayed. She is living in a foster home.
Rosie is a Pug dog and weighs 17 pounds. She was born 1/12/2018 so is 5-1/2 years old as of September 2023.
We took Rosie in on Friday, August 18th. Foster mom noticed blood in her urine so took her to a vet right away to be checked out. Found out after x-rays and tests that Rosie had a giant stone and needed surgery immediately! Oh my!
So she had bladder stone surgery Monday morning, August 21st. Surgery was a success and Rosie is doing great. She is eating Prescription CD food which she will need to eat the rest of her life. This food will prevent her from making more stones which causes lots of pain and would then need surgery again in the future. Vet said no other food, no snacks, and only this Prescription CD food and she shouldn't ever have any more issues.
Rosie is a super sweet girl. She is friendly. She does well with other dogs, cats, and children. She is housetrained. She is doing great! She has such a spunky attitude and plays a little. She’s doing good being crate trained but really doesn’t need to be. A fenced in yard is required for Rosie to keep her safe. No accidents since surgery and she’s feeling much better. We take her back 9/5 to have stitches removed. She doesn't much like the dry prescription food so will get some of the wet prescription food and mix it. Will see if she likes that! Will update once we see how she likes it.
9/6/23 UPDATE: Stitches are out and she’s all healed up. Also, got a can of the wet CD food and mixed it with the dry. Rosie loves it! So that should be her plan for the rest of her life. Dry CD prescription food mixed with canned wet CD prescription food.
Will someone please adopt Rosie and give her a forever home? $250.00 adoption fee.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
