10/13/2019: Rosie is an adorable grey and white American Staffordshire Terrier. She’s 2 years old and weighs 50 lbs. Rosie is super affectionate and a love bug. She is very smart and she’s had lots of obedience training. She is treat motivated. She is crate trained and house trained. She’s grown up very loved and cared for. She is good with kids.
Sadly, when Rosie was younger the neighbor’s dogs jumped the fence and attacked her. Prior to that Rosie had been dog friendly. But since then Rosie has been fearful around other dogs and reactive. She began jumping the 4 ft fence if given the opportunity. Rosie’s had training lessons to help with her dog fearfulness and reactivity and we’ve seen a lot of progress. She can walk in pack walks near other dogs with no problem now. She’ll continue to improve with more training.
Rosie needs a home with someone who:
• is dog savvy and has some experience with a dog who has some reactivity towards other animals. Our staff will share with you what training we've done that helps her and we'll help with any behavioral advice and needs going forward.
• has no other pets in the home
• preferably has a yard with a privacy fence. Rosie is pretty active, so a fenced yard would be really beneficial. If no fence, her new person needs to be active and in an environment where it’s pretty manageable to have Rosie and be able to walk or run with her.
If you think you may be a good match for this little sweetheart we would love to hear from you! We'd also be happy to place Rosie in a foster home or with someone who would like to foster-to-possibly-adopt . This girl is so sweet and has so much love to give!
Rosie has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms.
MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...
> WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO SUBMIT AN ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. By submitting an online application, we can process your application more quickly and can schedule an appointment for you to come in so that our small staff can serve you best. It also allows us to make arrangements if you’d like to meet a pet in foster care. Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for an adoption application and more information about our adoption process, fees and all that's included. An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements.
> If you decide you'd like to adopt one of the pets you meet, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that day. We’ll instead schedule a pick up date and time that’s convenient for you.
> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!
> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.
