Meet Rosie - Adoption Pending
Meet Rosie! Rosie’s foster mum says she is a wonderful, sweet dog that loves her people. She is smart as a whip and is doing very well with her training. In just a short time she has learned basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, come, paw, and drop it. She is highly motivated by tasty treats and is eager to please. Rosie has one of the softest faces and doesn’t mind at all being kissed right on her nose. She loves meeting new friends – dog and human! She is a fun-loving playful girl that loves her toys, going for long walks and wrestling with her canine foster siblings. Rosie is the perfect blend of active and chill and after all that playing she is loves to nap! When meeting people for the first time Rosie can be timid, but is quick to warm up and give kisses. With people she knows, she is also happy to see them and is learning not to jump up to say hello.
Rosie’s perfect family will have the time and energy required to care for and train a puppy! Sure - they are cute – but let’s face it...They are a lot of work! Rosie loves her people and would do well with respectful kids who understand dog etiquette. Although Rosie loves other dogs, she can get protective of her food when they are around so if her new family has another dog, they should have some experience in dealing with this. Rosie would also prefer a family with no cats and she like to chase them.
Rosie is medium energy and would do best with a family that will ensure she gets adequate exercise before and after work as well as potty breaks. She is learning leash manners quickly and while she does pull a little, with consistent direction & feedback, she is starting to get the hang of it. She is not easily distracted by dogs, people or cars.
Rosie is crated for up to 6 hours when her family is away and settles quickly. She is mostly well behaved in the home, but does like taking tissue out of the garbage and laundry out of the hamper so and so she will require a puppy proofed space if not crated. She is doing very well with her drop it command when she has something she shouldn’t. Rosie will sleep in her crate at night after a few minutes of crying, but would much prefer sleeping with her humans with her head right on the pillow. Rosie is still working on housetraining. She will use a puppy pad if located correctly but will need a family that has patients to continue her training.
As a condition of the adoption contract, Rosie’s new family will be required to:
- Attend a basic obedience class (proof of completion required)
- Provide consistent potty breaks throughout the day
- Provide plenty of socialization opportunities - both human and dog. It is critically important at this stage!
