Meet Roo
Are you looking for your very best friend? Here she is!!! Even better, if you are the perfect adopter for Roo, her adoption coordinator will pay her adoption fee for you!!! That is how much this sweet girl is loved, and how much she deserves the best home ever.
Roo is a lovable little land hippo (aka Lab/terrier mix) who wants nothing more than to be with her people - her smile when you walk into her room is unmatched, and she gives the BEST cuddles. She isn't the type of dog who needs to run 5 miles a day, but she loves her daily sniff walks through the neighborhood. She loves playtime - chasing balls, hiding treats, getting peanut butter out of her Kong, she's game for it!
Roo is a bit of a shelter hero also! Earlier this year, there was an intruder on the grounds of the shelter. A staff member was walking Roo when she alerted her handler to the presence of the intruder without alerting the intruder. She instinctively knew what to do in that situation, and because of her, the police were able to catch the individual. This normally goofy, silly girl showed her serious side when it was needed, and we couldn't be prouder of her!
Roo is crate trained and house trained, but because she wants all of your attention, she would need to have the right fur sibling. She is working very hard to build up her confidence while staying at CHN; she can be a bit anxious around new people, and sometimes barks like "Hey! Who's this?!" This has improved immensely over the past few months, as she becomes the wonderful dog we all knew she could be! With continued positive reinforcement and a patient, experienced human helping her gain confidence, we know Roo will continue to blossom into a perfect family dog.
A lot of people will dismiss Roo because she’s a black dog, but we promise, if you want to feel like the most important person in the entire world, look no further than this special girl!
