Meet Roo

Attention fans of the great outdoors and gardeners everywhere! Are you looking for a great companion? We have the dog for you! Roo is a 4-month-old puppy (Aussie/Doberman/Catahoula mix) who loves the great outdoors. He will sit by your side for endless hours of weeding, birdwatching, planting, or stargazing. You name, it, if it happens outside, he is the dog for the job. Do you enjoy reading books in a hammock? Do you like to work from home on the patio under an umbrella? Roo could chill out under by your side all day long. Like to take adventures? Roo thinks car rides are the best thing ever, especially if it involves a drive-through with pup cups!

Roo likes to keep his people close and would appreciate an adopter with a schedule that he can be a big part of. He is very interested in meeting children, picks up new tricks quickly, and is a whiz at potty training. Roo’s first adopter had to make a tough decision to help him find a new family because her work schedule changed, but she sure got him off to a great start for his forever family! Given Roo’s energy level, kids should be old enough to read Roo’s body language and give him space (ten and up unless dog savvy).

Roo can be very silly and with his long lanky legs, his “scamper dance” around the yard (or living room) is a delight to watch. We think agility courses would be a place where athletic Roo could excel, as he is lightning-fast.

Roo can coexist with a confident, youthful, and well-trained dog. He is working on learning when to back off and give space. Lots of breaks and enrichment activities separated by a tall gate are effective to keep both dogs calm until they build a trusting relationship.

Roo responds well to positive reinforcement training and is highly motivated by cheese sticks- he is learning a lot of new tricks and becoming familiar with big trucks, strangers, noises, and new things out in the world. Ask us all about the “Who is That” game when you come to meet him. Apartment life is not suggested for Roo as he likes to chat when he wants attention.

Won’t you come meet Roo and see if he is meant to be your best friend?

Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
