Ray Ban and Ronin are a GREAT pair of bonded brothers. Boy dogs are in greater need of being saved as they overpopulate shelters. Please feel free to read my article, “Boys vs. Girls” located on the website referenced at the end of the Bio (see tabs along the top). Thank you!
Ray Ban and Ronin are two sweetheart siblings who truly love each other and rely on one another and have been together their entire lives. They are Dachshund mixes, possibly mixed with Corgi (the shelter marked them as Corgi mixes) or other breeds. They both weigh about 20 lbs., are low to the ground with Dachshund-like legs and feet - very Dachshund in appearance but not too barky like many pure-bred Dachshunds are. They are both super cute! Ray Ban is very handsome, but harder to get a good photo of, and he actually has the shape of a heart on his side with respect to his markings! Ronin is also handsome, easier to photograph, and with gorgeous splotches of black eyeliner around his eyes giving him an especially adorable look! I consider them, as a duo, as being ADVANTAGEOUS for any adopter as they get along well and bring out the best in one another.
Ray Ban and Ronin were saved from the South L.A. Shelter back in 2016 by a sister rescue group, and adopted by a young gal. She eventually moved to a place where she was not allowed to have dogs, so she gave Ray Ban and Ronin to a friend who subsequently lost the dogs. Both dogs ended up at the shelter again, as strays so I think it is safe to say that this duo is still searching for their one stable, enduring home!
Ray Ban and Ronin are both about the age of 5 and have nice, upbeat, happy spunky energy, and can also calm down nicely. When lying together on a pet bed, they are always touching body to body; it is very sweet to see. Both are somewhat on the shy (and timid) side, but Ray Ban is slightly more extroverted, always wagging his tail, smiling, looking up at me – a very happy boy. Ronin relies on Ray Ban’s lead, but he comes around and warms up quickly, is also endearing and sweet, and has his own level of boldness, being the one of the duo to accept the challenge of navigating the doggie door. They are still settling in, realizing that they are welcomed guests, but they are loving, easy-to-manage dogs, and well-balanced. Both are smart dogs that picked up the rescue routine quickly, and very much enjoy the yard, running around and exploring. They get along with all dogs very well, however, it is also clear that they are symbiotic, and considerate of one another at all times. They eat their food with no fuss; enjoy treats, and having a little rawhide at bedtime.
Neither dog has any behavioral issues, and both are non-destructive and fairly quiet. They both walk well on the leash and ride fine in the car. They are crate-trained and potty-trained (however, potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment). A huge plus is that both dogs “go” on the lawn and do not go around marking everything outside. Ray Ban has a nose condition where the pigment (color) of the nose disappears and the nose has a sunburned look. There is a medical cream (that will be supplied at adoption), that upon ongoing application, will restore the pigment, and thus, the nose’s “protection.” This can be discussed further; however, it is NOT an issue that should interfere with an adoption, or the dog’s health.
NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriate sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase.
The best fit for Ray Ban and Ronin is with people who are looking for two sweet dogs that do well together and keep each other company. Since they thoroughly enjoy the yard and fresh air, a home with some type of yard for the dogs to enjoy is a huge plus. This duo would be a GREAT addition to someone who wants to focus on two sweet dogs that need a loving and stable home, enjoy taking walks, and who can give them loads of attention to make up for the instability in former homes. Though there are virtually no real grooming needs for either dog, an adopter would need to be fine with continuing to apply the cream to Ray Ban’s nose. This duo is ADORABLE. Both dogs are cherubs and I would consider any adopter lucky to have them.
Ray Ban and Ronin are neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, micro-chipped, and have both had a recent vet check with our rescue’s vet and have been cleared for adoption. Additionally, BOTH dogs have had a complete dental cleaning under anesthesia to up their chances of finding a forever home. If you are interested in discussing this duo, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please provide some information about your home, family, other pets, and your dog experience. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. There is an application process that precedes meeting a dog (they are not online). The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email. Please also visit my website at: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com and go to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process. The adoption fee for a duo is less than if adopting two dogs separately.
