Meet Rodger (Adoption Fee Sponsored!)

Hi, my name is Rodger! I'm a mixed breed dog born around 2/23/2017. I came up to Wisconsin from San Antonio, Texas and weigh close to 50 pounds. I am new to the shelter and they are still getting to know my personality but I've been a good dog so far!

My foster family in Texas had this to say about me:
He is such a sweet dog! He really adapted well in my home (he must have been someone’s pet). He knows how to sit, walked well on the leash, and knew how to hold up his paw so I could clean off his feet when they were dirty. He loved to snuggle on the couch. He was submissive to my 50-pound female husky, and never showed any aggression. There are no children or cats in the home, so I can’t comment on that. He does like to jump on people, but I feel with some training and exercise that this behavior can be corrected. He would make a great running partner!

Obedience classes for adult dogs and puppies can be incredibly helpful for both animals and humans. It helps you understand what makes me tick and will give me a better idea of what you want me to do. It’s a win/win and it will also strengthen the bond between us!

Update from previous shelter:

Temp on first approach: Rodger was giving excited tail wags at the kennel door.

Coming in and out of the kennel: Rodger leashed up well and exhibited positive body language coming in and out of the kennel.

Leash handling: Rodger walks well on the leash. He does stop to sniff things for what may be considered an excessive amount of time, but that just speaks to his curiosity.

Temp w/ males: Rodger met another new-pull male. The male went after him in a confrontational manner, attempting to bite without a warning. Rodger did not react or escalate. He ran behind me and whined. No contact was made, but Rodger handled the altercation very well.

Temp w/ females: Rodger met several females, he was the main male we used for our temp tests because of his friendly demeanor and eagerness to play. He was tail wags all around and loves the people with him just as much as the dogs.

Final temp w/ people: Rodger was a happy pup. He does jump on you a lot, and even goes in for the occasional headbutt. He just has quite a bit of energy and doesn't know how strong he is.

Any additional comments: He is very polite with other dogs, he is not invasive!
