Rocky aka Giddy Up's Story

Giddy Up (shelter name)/Rocky was found as a stray on the streets of NYC and brought to the New York Animal Care Centers in Queens in January.

During intake he was sweet and allowed all handling. But the continue stay at the shelter really had a negative effect on him.

His time was up and he was slated for euthanasia (due to space) but a wonderful woman who also saved another dog stepped up to save his life.

These are ROCKY'S STAT:

Approximate age 5

Approximate weight 50

Breed (s) mixed

Spayed or neutered? yes neutered

Good with:

kids? Rocky is excellent with kids. He loves my grandkids.

strangers? He great with people he doesn't know. He always greets everyone with his cute little butt and his waggying tail.

other dogs? He's fantastic with other dogs. He gets along great with my rescue Goldie and he also loves my son's dog Sadie who I watch 4 days a week. When my other son visits with his 2 dogs they all get along great.

cats? He does chase my cats but I don't think he has a prey drive. They will usually run away or they swat at him and he moves along.
On leash? He definitely needs work on his leash walking. he tends to pull so i would probably use a gentle leader to curb the pulling.

Housetrained? He's housetrained and he will go by my french door to let me know that he needs to go to the bathroom.

Crate trained? He does use the crate when i have to go to work for a few hours and we do crate him overnight. Hes fine with both of those. When we eat dinner we give him a Frozen Freeze Bone to lick so it occupies him while we eat. He loves it and will chew on it.

He would do great with a family. He would also love a fur sibling. He's 5, but he still has a lot of puppy energy. He loves everyone he meets. He really just wants to be loved.

Rocky is a counter surfer. I just chalk it up to him wanting to make sure that the food I'm serving meets his standards. I've learned not to keep anything within his reach. He's a character cause he's got short legs but a long body so he's able to reach for anything near the edge. We absolutely adore Rocky. He's an extremely loving boy and is constantly giving us kisses. he will sit on the ottoman by my feet and lay down with me and watch TV. He's such a good boy and anyone would be so lucky to have him in their home.
