Rocky Labrador Retriever Bethel, CT

Meet Rocky, a precious one-year-old, 25 lb. black lab mix with the most stunning eyes and soft coat. Sadly, this sweet pup was found abandoned before ending up at Danbury Animal Control pound a month ago. His history is a mystery but we can only assume he was mistreated because he’s petrified, unsocialized, and currently very shut down in his kennel. Staff and volunteers have been working closely with him to build his confidence but he will definitely require an adopter with a lot of patience, love, and experience.

Due to being so frightened, Rocky has not really shown his personality quite yet. He’s calm and gentle and has started to warm up with pets and soft conversation. He has been friendly with everyone he has met but is showing preference to woman over men. Rocky will need nurturing and training to overcome his fears. He appears to be fine with other dogs so we believe another pup would help with his confidence and to feel more comfortable. His ideal home would be a quiet one with a furry friend. A fenced yard is preferred and teens and up would be best.
