Meet Rocko

Look who is ready to start the search for his PYRfect family! Meet Rocko! ♥

Looking for a laid-back and chill dog? If so, you can stop the search! This guy is pretty much the perfect dog! He is just a child boy looking for a family that has lots of love and attention to give out! He isn't a needy dog, but gives you the cutest smile EVER when you give him lovings!
-You can apply to adopt Rocko using the link below. However, we highly recommend reading his ENTIRE bio to find out more info about him and see if his personality would be a good fit with your family first.
Adoption App :

Below is what his foster family has to say about him.

"From the moment we picked Rocko up, he has been nothing but sweet. He is a total lover boy and captures your heart within minutes of knowing him. He has a very calm and easy-going temperament. Part of that is probably due to him being heart-worm positive, we think they are bogging him down a bit. Even after treatment, he is still going to be a calmer dog though. He does excellent with the other dogs here and is pretty much indifferent to them. He pays no attention to our cats. Rocko has a few select spots that he loves to lie, and he can usually always be found in one of those. He isn't a needy dog and really doesn't ask for attention much. However, when you walk towards him he starts giving you the cutest crooked smile and keeps it until you stop petting him. Rocko is pretty low maintenance and tends to be on the more independent side. He loves attention but I would not say he is a "cuddly" dog. Rocko would be an awesome fit for someone looking for their first dog and wanting a calmer dog. One that would enjoy hanging out with them, but also wouldn't require constant attention/stimulation. A couple trots in the yard and a walk or two during the day would satisfy this big ole boy"

Rocko came to us after he was found and went unclaimed. He was in pretty rough shape. His coat was matted, he had a severe ear infection, a dewclaw that was growing into his paw pad, and he was Ehrlihica and heart-worm positive. We don't know what his past was prior to coming to us, but he definitely didn't come from a loving family. More likely he was a failed livestock dog that no one cared to look for after he wandered off.

Rocko is a 2.5-year-old male Great Pyrenees. He isn't very tall, but he is a big boy and weighs 96lbs.

??To Rocko's Future Family??

? Rocko's foster doesn't have any good walking spots nearby so he has not been on any walks to the park or out in public. He did do great at the vet and seems to walk well on a leash. Rocko does ride well in the car. Rocko is friendly when meeting new people but also a bit reserved. He does have good manners and does not jump on people.

? Rocko is trustworthy with the free-roam of the house. Both during the night and when his fosters are away. He has not shown to be a big chewer or barker in his foster home. Rocko is potty trained. However, he is NOT kennel trained. He is left to free-roam when no one is home and does great.

?Rocko is still not feeling like his best self. He is on the road to recovery, but we feel like his full personality hasn't shown through quite yet. While we don't believe he is ever going to be considering an active dog, he may become more playful as time goes on. He has not shown any interest in fetch or playing with toys. I doubt he ever even saw a toy before coming to the rescue. We are unsure if he is a water dog or not.

?If you live in an apartment and they allow large breed dogs, Rocko would probably do well. He is on the calmer side, but his owner does still need to be able to exercise him properly. Calm doesn't mean he doesn't need exercise, it just means you don't have to run a marathon to keep him stimulated ;)

?Rocko is being fostered around other dogs and cats. He does well with other dogs but is currently indifferent to them. It is possible that once he is back to full health, he may become more playful with them. However, he is not a dog to get for the sole purpose of giving your other dog a playmate. Rocko pays no attention to cats.

?? Adopting Rocko ??

Rocko is has been treated for his ear infection and his dewclaw has been clipped. He is currently undergoing treatment for his heartworms and Ehrlichia and is settling in more each day! Rocko's ideal home would be on the calmer side. While he wouldn't mind a few walks, he probably wouldn't enjoy being taken all over town. He would do great with another calmer dog, but it is not a necessity.

?Rocko is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. He will be ready to go home around June 24th. His new family should be available to pick him up close to that date. ?

Rocko is being fostered in Kiowa, OK. His new family needs to be able to pick him up(even if they are out of state). No commercial transports and no shipping. Just a fun road trip with him and his new family! ?

His adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. He will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention. It also includes his heart-worm/Ehrlichia/Ear treatment.
