Meet Rocco

Rocco has a personality and fluffy coat that is like a siren call to all. He is still learning about the world and can get a little nervous by being growly or bark around things he’s unsure about. (This has included the washing machine, a bucket, and the ceiling fan.)

Loving and calm is an easy way to keep Rocco happy. Full of puppy energy, there is a constant watching and need to play. Although a puppy he has wonderful calm moments and is rather chill. He has a few idiosyncrasies from his life before that causes him to be upset, but he is willing to be submissive and roll on his back or simply pull the puppy puddle to get his way. He walks well on a leash but you have to stay aware of him getting nervous around things he doesn’t understand.

He likes riding in the car, and stays calm and naps when left in the car. (so far) He likes to meet all the dogs at the park, and wants to get to know even the grumpy ones who try to tell him off for being too eager. He loves having the company of other dogs, and is very good at following along with another dog.

He likes to calmly greet other people and loves to be pet. He is quite good and is learning recall at the park. Especially when there are treats on hand. He’s a bit of a crocodile, and needs to learn how to take treats gently. This over-eagerness may frighten children. My under age 10 nieces and nephews did get to play with him for an afternoon, and he was patient through the running around, and rough petting and tugging on the leash.

He has been in a house with cats, and I think he is young enough that he could become accustomed to cats in the house.

As a Husky mix he gets hot, and drinks a lot of water. As a puppy, he needs to pee every hour or so. He knows to take himself in the yard to use the bathroom. He is learning to last through the night with crate training, and is getting accustomed to his training with each new night.

Rocco is very smart and a bit sneaky. So make sure to keep an eye on anything that is left on the counter that may be tasty. As he thinks his size is the perfect reason to reach up and steal what he can.

We had a lot of family wishing they could keep this cuddle fluff forever, but we know whoever adopts him will be incredibly happy to have him as part of their family.
