Meet Roc

Intake date 8 March 2021
.
10 year old neutered male border collie
.
Roc is a 10 year old, very overweight fellow we pulled from a shelter after he was turned over for being -- dirty.
.
Roc is now groomed, and neutered, current on vaccines, and ready for a great retirement home dedicated to helping him lose some weight, and gain some fitness.
.
Roc walks nicely on leash, rides beautifully in a crate in the car, has been introduced to new people and dogs without incident. He showed mild curiosity in chickens viewed through fence, and used a dog door on the first try. His recall is reasonable, though will need reinforcement as he builds partnership with his new humans.
.
Roc would make an excellent companion for someone looking for a bright companion, but unable to commit to the rigors of a young border collie. Roc will enjoy good walks with his person, and we suspect with a little bit of training and exposure would enjoy visiting with small groups, r perhaps even pub visits (remember them?).
.
Roc is crate trained, and settles nicely. He would enjoy the company of other dog(s) in the home. We do not have history with cats or children, so he will not be placed into a home with young children, and anyone with cats, must be willing to take time to train, and allow the cats a separate space within the home.
.
This dog is located in Maryland - we do not ship or transport dogs. For information on adoption, an FAQ, and our application, please see our website at mabcr.org. If you are interested in adoption, please submit an application, complete with documentation.

PLEASE READ our procedures for adoption prior to making inquiry regarding this dog. If you are looking for additional photos, video, or information on this dog, you will likely find that by searching our facebook page for their photo/description album.
.
Please see our main website at www.mabcr.org for more information regarding the adoption of this or any dog from our rescue.
.
Please note that while this dog is currently available, any dog on our site may have an adoption pending and may not be available to you at this time. The same dog may later become available if the adoption falls through.
.
Our website www.mabcr.org will give you details on our adoption procedures as well as an application for adoption. An application must be submitted prior to 'matching' an adopter with a dog as all dogs do not fit into all homes. We pride ourselves in our adoption process, we take the time to get to know our adopters so that we can place a dog with them that they can enjoy for years to come.
.
Please understand that we will not discuss dogs with individual adopters until after the application process is completed.
.
Our rescue does not have a public facility, therefore there are no visiting hours. Appointments to visit with the available dogs are made after the application process has been completed by our staff.
.
To assist any dog within the MABCR organization, please consider making a donation to the general fund or to the medical fund. All dogs coming into our rescue are fully vetted (s/n and core vaccines) prior to adoption.
.
Rescuing animals is quite expensive. If you are unable to adopt, but would like to help this, or any other animal in our system, please consider a sponsorship donation.
For information on our sponsorship program, please contact Sarah at SLR@mabcr.org.
.
Thank you for your interest in Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue.
