Meet River
My favorite pastime is lap sitting. I am a kisser, cuddler, hugger, and lover! Morning coffee is not complete until I sit on your lap and enable you to start your day by petting and loving me. If you need to leave the house, that is fine – I am crate trained. If you are tired, and need a nap, I will assume my duties for home security – patrolling the house, checking windows and doors (squirrels may launch an attack). This also includes licking you to ensure you are okay. If you need a restful sleep, put me in my kennel. We will both be well rested and happy.
I am crate and house trained. Do not worry. I will let you know that I need to potty. I will look at you, try to get your attention, and as a last-ditch effort, I will whine. Once outside, I am all about completing my mission. Walks? I love walking, running, jumping and being outdoors! My foster mom thinks I would do well with training – especially agility training.
The border collie in me needs a “job.” I wear a backpack and slip lead during walks to keep me calm and confident. As a herding/guard dog, I will bark at strangers before allowing them to pet me. My foster mom is teaching me: 1. Do not chase cars; 2. Do not continue to bark/growl at people once I’ve alerted her to strangers; and 3. My foster mom is in charge and will take care of me. I do NOT have to protect her! Once I get past the barking, I love meeting new people, of all ages. Humans are the BEST at giving belly rubs and ear scratches!
While living with my foster mom, I have not had any interaction with cats. If I see another dog near my property, I will bark and let everyone know, “stranger danger.” If I meet another dog away from my property, I will sniff and meet them.
I will ride “shot gun” in the car. Where you go, I go! If you’re looking for a sweet little girl to snuggle, cuddle, and hug, then I am the pup for you!
I am spayed, fully vetted, heartworm negative and microchipped.
Adoption Fee: $550(cash or card)
If you want to meet me, I will be at the Apple Valley Petco on Saturday, October 5, from 11-2.

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11am - 2pm at Apple Valley Petco (corner of Cedar Avenue and County Road 42)
Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.
The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals!
CAN YOU FOSTER? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! If you’re interested, please email our office @ mail@last-hope.org and give us your contact information and what you would like to foster and someone will get back to you! You can also apply to be a foster home on our webpage! In the upper left hand corner there’s a drop down tab with the link for canine foster home. Just fill it out online & submit! We will get back to you as quick as we can.
