Meet River!

This handsome boy came from a hoarding situation out in Anderson, SC where he and twelve of his brothers and sisters were rescued. He is about 8 years old and weighs 63 lbs. This handsome boy is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccination/vetting, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He is also crate trained, housebroken, and knows basic obedience commands. Unlike most cattle dogs, he is relatively low energy.

River can be shy and timid in new environments and around new people, but when he feels comfortable enough to trust, his goofy personality blossoms! He is looking for a home with the patience to allow him to show his true colors after some time spent adjusting to his new life.
(Pro tip: His favorite snack and the quickest way to his heart is HAM!)
Although not a requirement, our friendly River would do great in a home with other dogs. He currently lives in a foster home with a two-year-old ACD female. Having other dogs around has proven to make River feel comfortable, quicker. He is great with both female and male dogs. River is also cat friendly. We would recommend that he not go to a home with small children, as it may be overwhelming to this ole’ sweet boy. Ideally, children in the home should be 12 years or older.
River will need to go to a home with a fenced yard, and ideally a low traffic area. Living in a busy city or neighborhood will easily be too overwhelming for him.

An ideal adopter will have Australian Cattle Dog experience or similar herding breed experience, who will be patient with him while adjusting to his new environment.
