Meet Riva

Riva is ready to share her story! ♥

I do not want my past to define who I am. I have had so much happen in my journey to find a forever family. From ending up on the euthanasia list in a shelter, to being returned after I was startled when a kid stepped over me while I was in deep sleep, to coming back yet again when my owner abandoned me in an apartment.

Yes, this is all part of my past but it is NOT part of my future. I spent over a week alone in an apartment with no food, water, or air conditioning before the apartment management was made aware and came and got me. That gives a girl some time to think. I want someone who is as loyal to me as I am to them. Someone who will never abandon me again, or let me get passed around again. It took me a few weeks to bounce back after my ordeal, but I am back to my playful, silly, and super sweet self. Now I am on the search for my forever family. I know they are out there. I know they won't make sweet promises as my last families did. I know that when they adopt me, it will be for furever and I cannot wait!

I am a 5-year-old, 79lb female Great Pyrenees. I have the most beautiful fluffy coat around and the majestic double dewclaws of the Pyr!

While I am super excited to find my forever family, I do not want to rush into anything. I want you and I both to be sure that we are a match! To help with that, I have filled out a questionnaire.

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Would I need to come to pick you up?
Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! ?

-Can I adopt you even though I don't live in Oklahoma?
Yep, I am not opposed to living in another state!

-How do you act when meeting new people?
I am friendly and happy. I will hold my big ole tail up proudly when meeting new people.

-What is your personality like?
Playful, Silly, and Calm.

-Do you jump on people?
No. However, when I get really excited I may do it trying to get you to play, but only if I know you are wanting to play with me as well.

-Do you enjoy going places?
I have only been to the vet but did well there.

-Do you enjoy walks?
I have not really been on any since my foster family has a fenced in backyard.

-How are you on a leash?
Great! I am excited and ready to go!

-How do you do on car rides?
I will walk right up to the car and hop in as soon as you open the door for me.

-Can I trust you to free-roam the house, even if I am away?
Yes. I have free-roam of the house when my fosters are away.

-Where do you like to sleep at night?
In the bedroom with my foster parents.

-Do you chew?
No.

-Are you potty trained?
Yes

-Are you kennel trained?
No. It is not necessary for me.

-Do you like to play fetch?
No. I am excited to play with the toy you are holding, but as soon as you throw it I lose interest. I would rather have it handed to me like the princess I am ;)

-Do you like to play in the water?
I am unsure, I haven't really had the chance to yet.

-Do you play with toys?
Yes! I love all kinds of toys and will take them to my dog bed and play with them.

-Would you do okay living in an apartment?
No. No more apartments for me! I need a big ole yard.

-Do you bark?
Yes. I bark when I hear things that are out of the norm. I will also keep grumbling to myself when I hear something I want to bark at and my foster tells me to hush. My foster finds it hilarious, she thinks I am talking back to her....which maybe I am...maybe I am not ;) .

-Are you good with other dogs?
Yes.

-How do you act around other dogs?
-Playful.

-Are you good with cats?
Yes, I am good with cats.

-Are you good with kids?
I have not been around any in my foster family. Given my playful personality, it would be best if they were older.

-Have you shown any signs of food aggression with other animals?
No.

-Have you tried to resource guard anything?
No.

-Can I hear what your foster has to say about you?
"Oh Riva girl! I cannot say enough great things about her. She is so playful, so silly, and so sweet. She loves to play with other dogs but loves playing with her people as well. She will jump around like a clown, chase after you, talk to you, and truly be your best friend! She loves attention and is often always in the same room as you. She will happily sleep in bed with you, or on the nice cool floor. She does great with all animals and is happy to be part of the family. Riva can be talkative and will bark when she hears things outside. That is something her new family should be prepared for. She is not a constant barker or anything like that, but she will definitely let you know when something seems amiss. She is pretty laid back in the house. She has her playful moments and when she gets like that, I let her outside and she does zoomies all over the yard trying to get the smaller dogs to play with her. They mostly just look at her like she is crazy, but I think she would LOVE a playmate her size. She entertains herself with toys, and has not attempted to chew on anything she shouldn't. She does excellent with free-roam of the house, and is just about as perfect as it gets! ♥ "

-What are you looking for in your new family?

I am looking for a family who wants a dog with a personality. Someone who will make them laugh with her silly antics. One that is a good mix of playful and calm would be awesome. I am really hoping for another doggie playmate my size. I am not wanting to play 24/7, but I definitely have my moments where I want to just tumble around and play chase with the other dog. I would make an excellent road trip companion, and would love going for walks and/or hikes. Mostly, I just want to be part of the family. I am such a loyal and sweet dog and want to find someone who will love me forever. I want my next family to be who I spent the rest of my life with! ♥

-How much is your adoption fee?
My adoption fee is $225.

That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention
