Meet Rito!

Rito is a one-year-old neutered male, weighing in at a petite 8 lbs. He was rescued from a challenging situation in a hoarding environment, where he and his sister shared a small space with 25 other dogs. Although the caretaker was kind, there wasn't enough time or resources to provide the attention and experiences every dog needs. As a result, Rito never had the chance to go on walks or explore the world outside.

Rito is now beginning to discover the world for the first time and will need a patient and understanding companion to help him adjust. He's naturally shy around new people, but he's never aggressive. It takes him a couple of days to build trust and feel comfortable in new settings. Once he feels secure, Rito loves being held-being in someone's arms makes him feel safe and is a great way to bond with him.

He might initially be anxious around new people or other dogs, but this stems from the unfamiliarity of new experiences. With time and gentle reassurance, he learns that everything is okay. Despite his initial hesitance, Rito is incredibly sweet and affectionate.

Rito is still learning to walk on a leash, and while he feels a bit scared right now, consistent routines will help him learn to enjoy his walks. He is active and playful with other dogs and gets along well with cats.

Rito is potty-trained to use a patio but will need some guidance to adjust to a new environment. He's also comfortable being in a crate.
