Background :

Risa arrived in Toronto from Antigua in October and is settling into her foster home with her dog and human foster sibling and is now ready to find her furever family!


Personality:

Risa is a shy yet sassy pup who blossoms with a bit of time and familiarity. She feels most secure around her canine foster sibling, Kana, with whom she loves to play and steal toys! When she's not having fun, Risa enjoys cozying up in her bed or crate for a nap and she loves a good snooze. She also has a playful side, especially when it comes to chasing squirrels and pigeons. With patience and a loving home, her personality is sure to shine even brighter.


Ideal Home:

Risa’s ideal home would be one where at least one member of her family works from home and is able to give her the time and attention she needs to help her adjust and build up her confidence. She is currently living in a condo and is doing well despite her fear of the elevator. Because of this she might be better suited to a house or a condo on a lower floor where she can use the stairs to go on her walks. As long as Risa has plenty of access to green space she will be a happy girl. Risa is currently living with a young child and is doing well but older, dog savvy children would be ideal as she can be startled by sudden movements. While a dog sibling isn’t required, it would be helpful for Risa to live in a home with a well trained and confident pup who can show her the ropes!


Training/Activity:

Risa is a shy but sweet pup gradually building confidence in city life with the help of her foster sister and lots of positive reinforcement. She knows how to sit and is starting to explore more on her walks as she grows comfortable. Her foster family is giving her plenty of time and gentle encouragement to help her come out of her shell. While she’s adapting to condo life, she’d likely thrive in a home with green space, where she can feel more at ease due to her fear of the elevator.


Summary:

Risa is a sweet and silly small girl with an infectious personality that is slowly emerging as she gets more comfortable in her new surroundings. While she is looking for a family who will be patient with her and go at her pace while she adjusts to city life, she promises to be the best companion you can ask for!
