RIO's Story

Rio the Borador is an all-around stellar lover! Rio has a Border Collie's intelligence, but is not obsessive, or manic, or hyperfocused. He has a Labrador's friendly, laid-back approach to life and high food motivation. He loves everyone -- people, big dogs, little dogs, cats. He is gentle, cuddly, and very ready to bond tightly to his new person or family. Easy to train, eager to please, Rio is not even 7 months old. He is currently 60 pounds, and still growing. In case we haven't been clear, he is A GOOD DOG.

Rio has a soft, gentle, slightly submissive temperament. He will wilt with aversive training, but will blossom with joy and love with kind, supportive training and exposure to the world. He is naturally biddable, very eager to understand what is wanted and to do it as best he can.

He would be a great family dog, and he'd be an equally great close companion for a single person. He can live with a pack of dogs and cats, or as an only dog who spends his time with his family. He thrives on connection, cuddling, praise, and play. He will not do well home alone all day.

Rio is house trained. He uses a dog door. He sleeps quietly on his foster mom's bed. He has been neutered, has received age-appropriate vaccinations, and has an implanted microchip.

If you are looking for a handsome, well-put-together sweetheart to grow with you, to go on adventures or just hang out at home, if you want an extremely loyal loving dog who is kind to everyone, Rio is your boy.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING RIO, please request our application by sending email to

Lynxcat@comcast.net

(PLEASE DO NOT attempt to contact us through PetFinder.)

Only after your application has been approved can we set up an appointment for you to meet RIO and his foster family in Felton, CA.

We always acknowledge email if we receive it; if you do not hear back from us within 48 hours, please resend.

We never ship dogs.

If you can see this listing, RIO IS available.

Paddington Station's Adoption Policy
We ask that potential adopters request and then submit our adoption application. When we receive it, we respond with questions and comments, so that together we can ascertain whether the animal and the adopter are likely to be a successful match. If they are, the adopter visits the animal in the foster home. We then check references, speak to your vet, and complete a home visit as appropriate. The adopter signs a contract and takes the animal home. We keep in close touch during the first month after adoption, and often for many years. In short, we have a rigorous screening policy because we want you and the animal to have the best possible chance of a happy life together.
