Meet Ringo
Ringo is one of the pups that was rescued from the recent hoarding case. He is a German Shepherd around 10 years old. He is currently under weight, but we are working on getting him to his target weight. Due to his previous situation he is still skittish while eating but with a bit of coaxing he will eat his meals.
He is coming out of his shell but is still quite shy. He LOVES being petted and is very sweet and loving. He is a gentle giant and gives the softest kisses. If he wants to be petted more, he will slowly raise his paw to let you know. He is very smart and quick to learn commands such as sit, stay, and paw. He is not very interested in toys but will occasionally chew on his Nylabone.
He is house broken and has not had an accident since we started fostering him. He will let you know when he needs to go outside. He is getting more comfortable being outside in our backyard but is still very scared to go on walks; so, having a backyard is a must. While trying to take him on walks, or if we are outside too long, he shows off his shepherding skills to try to get us back inside by looping around us and then going toward the door.
He gets along well with our 7-year-old pup, but really does not pay much attention to her. We have left them alone and he just stayed in his bed. Since he was crated for so much of his life, we have not crated him at all and have not had any issues.
We think he would be happiest in a calm house with someone that is patient and will help him build his confidence to be his happy self. He would be happiest if he was not crated and again a backyard is a must. We have not had him around kids or high energy dogs but given how skittish he is we do not think they would be a good fit for him. Given his age and personality he would not be happy if he didn’t get the love and attention he deserves!
P.S. He loves to try to steal your coffee, so watch out!
