Meet Riley

Do you have a lonely dog looking for a friend? You do? Well, meet Riley! Riley is just over a year old and, like most dogs who find their way to Animal Advocacy, Riley had a rough start. The first year of her life, she had little to no contact with people. Because she struggled to get away from people when she was put on a leash, the local shelter decided she needed to spend some time in foster care before she could be adopted.

Within three days of moving in with her foster family, Riley started to discover that being with people is a great thing and she started to open up and show her fun loving, affectionate self. Riley is a very curious about new people and will approach them. She walks away and returns until she is comfortable and then she’s happy to be in their company.

Her foster mom describes her as a late-blooming puppy. She loves to play with toys and always has something in her mouth. She hasn’t been allowed to chew anything not given to her, so your shoes should be safe. Riley has been housetrained.

She has been living with small dogs (who Riley likes to tease), cats and dogs her own size. She is also happy to receive affection from her foster mom’s grandkids (2-5 years old) and is smart enough to move out of the way when they start to play. Riley is a big girl and really needs a secure, fenced yard to romp in.

To summarize, Riley would be the perfect addition to your family if you have another dog, enjoy walks and are looking for an entertaining, curious, smart dog to make your family complete. Riley will need a lot of patience while she learns about her new family and adjusts to her new home. She will do best in a home with at least one person who is home most of the time. Another dog is an absolute must.

Riley has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and has been microchipped.
