Rigatoni's Story
Hi! My name is Rigatoni. I’m a 2-year old cattle dog from the South, (no I don’t bark with an accent). I was just found wandering so my back story is not known. That’s probably why I’m a little skittish around fast movements and loud noises, and somewhat shy at first meeting. But once I warm up to you, all bets are off. I’m in your personal space as much as possible, giving you loves and cuddles.

I do very well with kids, and people I know. But like most introverts, I prefer if everyone else ignores me until I suss out the vibe and get to feeling comfortable. I don’t mind dogs that keep to themselves and are respectful as I’m not a very dog social guy yet. But no rambunctious, overly-friendly dogs for me.

I’m a great leash walker, so can join you on your excursions around your place. Car rides are okay, perhaps a few pup cups or bacon at drive-throughs will make the car a joy to be in? But my most favorite activity of all right now is sniffing the great outdoors! Oh my, you have lovely new smells up here in the Pacific NW!! My second favorite thing, after the sniffing, is being indoors, warm and cozy, napping and cuddling with you.

I’m house-trained but make sure to keep me on a regular schedule so I keep up my good work on doing my business outside. If I have to be in a crate I can settle in, but it isn’t my favorite place to be. And I tend to leave things alone in your home, but if you leave peanut butter toast or a piece of cheese on the counter, all bets are off.

Some of my other favorite things are: my humans (mentioned before but it’s always good to put that out there), meals and treats (DUH), chin scritches, and the couch. I do have some things I need work on or that you need to know when you adopt me: meeting new people, unknown dogs in my face, my paws are off limits, and I don’t care to be picked up.

If you think we’d be a good match, send in an application to adopt me! I’m in a foster home in Aberdeen, Washington that has 2 adults and 2 dogs. I’d love to find my forever home to be able to fully decompress and show my true self!

If you are interested in adopting Rigatoni, please fill out the application on our website at: https://www.westernaustralianshepherdrescue.com/adoption-application.html.

We only schedule meet n greets after a completed application which includes a home visit and reference checks.
