Ricky needs a home.....again.

Ricky is an American Bull Dog who is a few years old. He is a well mannered dog, fully potty and crate trained, with low energy and he LOVES people. In fact, he wants nothing more than to have someone to hang out with. He chooses people before dogs.

Those of you that already know Ricky know that he was once Ricky- of "Lucy and Ricky". The pair that we had rescued after Ricky was found with his jaw hanging off and totally mutilated. Everyone fantasized about these dogs staying together forever because they were best buddies and inseparable and "bonded". We wanted to make everybody happy and adopt them out together which we wound up doing. Since the 2 and the woman's other dog have lived together, it was obvious that Ricky liked the other 2 dogs, but cared more for his human friend. There was an altercation and Ricky was returned to us. As we thought may happen, having this "bonded pair" together and then living with another dog was not the right situation for Ricky and now he needs a home. He will be fine in a home with or without other dogs. He, like EVERY single dog needs and REQUIRES a structured home with someone who's going to move on from the old story about how he came to us with a mutilated lip and how he had such a hard past. Holding on to that sad story leads to someone not wanting to be strict with him and give him rules and the guidance that he need. Dogs needs to work. They need to go on structured walks every single day, wait for food, know lots of commands and be good listeners. They do not come to us this way, we need to train them. Ricky needs a home that gets that. He is a very well behaved dog so we want whoever adopts him to keep this up so that he is not constantly tossed around.

If only people understood the importance of structure in a dog's life, dogs like Ricky wouldn't once again be looking for a new family. Please help him find a home. He is such a sweet soul.

In order to adopt a dog from Sophie's Circle, any current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered, current on vaccines, and on flea and heartworm prevention. A home check will be done to make sure that the home is a safe and loving environment for one of our rescue dogs.
