What is City of Chico Animal Shelter’s adoption process?

Although the Butte Humane Society is our main adoption partner, we also work with local rescue groups, and The City of Chico also has animals available for adoption.  Cat adoption fee: $65.00 ($39.00 + $26.00 Co-Pay) Kittens and cats up to 8 years old. $45.00 ($39.00 + $6.00 Co-Pay) Cats over 8 years old. Dog adoption fee: $47.00 + Cost of Spay/Neuter (Co-Pay: $20-50) Small animal adoption fee: $10.00 + Cost of Spay/neuter (Co-Pay: $25-50) Dogs are heartworm tested, cats are FELV/FIV tested, and all animals will be microchipped.  All animals are currently vaccinated for common canine and feline diseases, dewormed, treated for fleas (when necessary), and are screened for health and temperament. Dog licenses are available at the shelter for the City of Chico. The City of Chico Animal Shelter is located at 2579 Fair St., Chico, CA. We're open every day from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM. (By appointment only)
