What can we say about this handsome, tri-pod guy . . . Remington is a WILD and CRAZY German Short-haired Pointer pup! He comes to us from a broken home, where his loving Dad just couldn't do it all by himself. He asked for help, and we agreed to take this handsome boy in and work with him a little, before finding him his perfect new home.
Did we mention that Remington is a WILD and crazy, young boy? Yep, that's the truth. Remington LOVES kids! He gets along well with other dogs, and should have a canine companion that can keep up with him. He might be too much for a senior dog. Unfortunately, at 45 lbs and about 12 months old, he is a bit lacking in the training department. He really has no manners . . . YET (he's still pretty hyper), he is not house-broken . . . YET, he has no leash skills . . . YET. But Remington is so smart, he will learn quickly. He will need a family with a bit of patience with his exuberance, and who is committed to continued training - professional training, with a positive reinforcement program. He needs an active family that will give him LOTS of daily exercise. This boy is NOT a couch-potato, and he never will be. Did we say he is WILD? He LOVES and NEEDS to run . . . A LOT.
To be considered, families must have a good-size, fully-fenced yard, due to his wild and crazy need to run. NO electric / underground fencing - PERIOD.
For more information about our mission and for an application for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com.
GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of 300.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
*/*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter.
