Remi Retriever & Great Pyrenees Mix Lafayette, CO

Ellie (Remi) is one of the sweetest, quietest and softest girls out there! She is still learning to trust people, definitely prefers females, but shows no aggression at all toward anyone, and likes other dogs (we have not seen her around cats). Ellie is quite shy, a bit scared, and still spends most of her time in her crate, always watching and trying figure out her new world. Although she doesn't understand the concept of a leash, she is remarkably smart and should figure that out quickly. She will do her business outside if she needs to (but has not learned how to tell us when she has to go yet), and is paper trained in the meantime. We think she is a Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix (maybe?) but is VERY small - just 50 lbs. and is always on the lookout - watching and observing everything from the safety of her crate.

Her perfect forever-family will be very patient, have plenty of time with her each day to work on her confidence (preferably someone who works from home) and have at least one other super social dog who will help her learn to play and trust people. Since she spent the last few years on her own, her new home will need a secure yard and someone to watch her at all times (until she learns that her new home is not someplace she needs to escape from). The quietness of nighttime makes her a bit anxious, so she enjoys classical music (or 90's grunge) playing in the background overnight.

Ellie will make such and excellent best friend for someone who has the patience and love to help her out of her shell.

Our adoption fees cover transport from a reservation or high-intake shelter, vaccinations, deworming, food, alteration, any needed treatments and microchipping for identification. We foster our animals in homes around Colorado instead of one central facility, so your adoption payment goes further toward helping more animals find safe homes filled with love.
