Reeve's Story

Reeve is more fun than a barrel of monkeys! He loves people, and he is getting along with the other dogs in his foster home. Reeve also obeys the cats when they tell him to back off.
About 1 – 1 ½ years old, Reeve spent almost two months at animal control without being adopted, so an Illinois Humane volunteer temperament-tested him and promised to get him his shots, neutered and microchipped, taking him from animal control as a New Hope dog.
He was great at the vet’s office, and now he has settled into his foster home. His foster mom doesn’t think he had ever seen a crate before he came to live with her, but he has accepted it willingly and never protests when he has been led to it and the door is closed.
Housebreaking has been no problem either. He had one accident the first day “out of jail,” and he has been considerate of the floors ever since! Reeve has not had much experience walking on a leash, but he is catching on quickly.
Illinois Humane and some breed-recognition experts believe Reeve is a Louisiana Catahoula leopard dog, possibly a mix of that and something else. His blue merle coat is gorgeous and set off by bright white paws, neck/chest and tail tip.
To visit with Reeve, please join us at our off-site adoptions at PetCo, 2721 S. Veterans Parkway, Springfield, Ill., on the first and fourth Sunday of each month or the second and third Sundays at Springfield’s PetsMart on Veterans Parkway. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, Illinois Humane will have no adoptions the third and fourth weekends of December 2007. If that doesn't match your schedule, please call Illinois Humane at (217) 698-3804 to arrange for a visit with Reeve. He is waiting to meet you.
ILLINOIS HUMANE . . . CARING PEOPLE . . .
