RED - The Happiest Dog in the World! Mixed Breed New York, NY

THE HAPPIES T DOG! We met RED during our shelter outreach initiative with Babylon Animal Shelter earlier this month. Her curious, well-worn face, dotted with small scars, greeted us eagerly. She had proven herself to be a good dog, worthy of much more than a kennel and concrete walls. She was love, affection and obedience and excellent with people, allowing all handling! RED had been in the shelter since September 2019 after being found abandoned at a Farmingdale, NY PetSmart store with nothing but an electric cord tied around her neck. She had recently given birth.

RED loves balls, playing tug and keep away and has a high jump that rivals Olympic athletes – she would ace an agility course! RED is gentle with humans and seeks affection, leaning in for a scratch or decidedly ungraceful plop in your lap, ignorant to the proportion of her size and the surface area of your lap. RED is trusting. She met our #helperdog JOEY for a brief intro and was nonreactive, wavering between disinterest and mild arousal. She appears to be able to coexist in the presence of other leashed dogs, but may remain largely uninterested in engaging. Her ideal home has no other pets so that she can adjust to her new life without any added variables or stress.
