Ralphie Basset Hound Mix Mokena, IL

We would like to introduce you to a sweet boy that is in need of some extra love. Meet Ralphie! He is a 1 1/2 year old male Bassett Hound mix that came to our rescue extremely shy and nervous. Over the past month, he has slowly started to warm up and begun to trust. We are hopeful that he will continue to progress once he is in the right forever home.

Ralphie needs an adopter that is willing to go slow with him to help build his confidence and work on his socialization. He is starting to learn how to walk on a leash, but still needs some work. He is very shy meeting new people. He likes treats and has just recently started to take them out of the hands of our staff. He has realized that he LOVES stuffed toys!

Ralphie needs a patient and compassionate adopter to teach him how wonderful human love can be. He likes other dogs but prefers those closer to his size. Living in a home with a confident doggy sibling could be very beneficial for him. He is a very gentle and sweet boy that we would love to see in a home where he can live comfortably and with less anxiety.

The NAWS Dog Adoption Program operates as a rescue versus a shelter. We believe in matching the right dog with the appropriate family based on each specific dog or family's needs. To achieve this, we believe in spending the appropriate amount of time with each family to allow for enough interaction time with potential adopters. This cannot be achieved if people stop by unexpectedly to meet our dogs.
