Sweet Ralphie is a handsome, loving, and gentle soul. True to his breed Ralphie’s most favorite thing in the world is playing fetch. His second most favorite thing is going swimming!. His third most favorite thing in the whole world is BELLY RUBS!!!! Oh my, what a treat! Sooo soothing!!!!! So calming!!!!!

Ralphie is playful and fun loving. His graying muzzle belies his youthful nature. Ralphie would benefit from daily walks for happiness and exercise. He loves to play with his doggy siblings Mojo and Lily (see listings) and would love to be adopted with them but it is not necessary. Ralphie is also great with cats. He loves to run after his cat but never hurts one. In fact until recently one of his roommates was a little crippled cat and he was very gentle with her. Ralphie is not destructive or aggressive.

Because he still has the energy of a young dog we think that he should not be adopted into a home with small children as he might knock them over and inadvertently hurt them. Children a little older and stronger, like around 12 yrs or more, are fine.

We don’t know Ralphie’s background story. Something left him shy and a little afraid of strangers but once he gets to know you he gives you all his love. He is such a sweetheart and so very loving and protective of you. As you can see from the pictures he was very trusting in just a few minutes with the photographer and he posed beautifully.

A note from his foster mom explains a little about him: “I found Ralphie as a puppy, running down the highway and in jeopardy of being hit by a car. He was malnourished and his collar was starting to embed into his skin. True to his breed he has the mentality of a happy pup and probably always will. Ralphie is one of those dogs that can't seem to make up his mind. Inside? Outside? Both at the same time? Perhaps he was a cat in his previous life? He’s a little goof ball.“

ADOPTION PROCESS:
Ralphie will be adopted to an inside forever family only. Although Ralphie is gentle and gets along with both sexes of dogs, if he is to be a companion to another dog we require it to be a female companion dog. Fence is preferred but negotiable under the right circumstances. No apartments or condos as he barks much in an effort to protect his family. Application, Reference and Vet checks, and a Home Visit are required. His adoption fee of $200 will help other abandoned and neglected dogs like him.
