Meet Quincy (loves dogs)

QUINCY will be available for adoption after March 22nd, 2021 when he gets neutered. Please submit your application online at passion4paws.org/adopt.

Meet QUINCY! We rescued him a few weeks back from a very scary situation. He had clearly been abandoned quite some time ago and we were called on by a Good Samaritan to fish him out of an icy pond. How he got there we don't know, but he was emaciated, matted, and in need of emergency medical attention. After spending a few days in the hospital and several weeks recuperating in his foster home, QUINCY is ready to get on with his life.

QUINCY weighs 22 lbs and is approximately 14-18 months old. He is shaved now, but as you can see in the photos he has extremely long fur which requires regular grooming every 2-3 months or else his fur will become matted and painful. Adopters will need to have a groomer identified in advance of adoption.

QUINCY does not have a mean bone in his body. He's super sweet! He loves other dogs and wants to play, play, play all day long. He would love to go to a home with another high-energy dog that is his size or bigger, because QUINCY is all puppy and simply doesn't know when to stop. He is living in a foster home with 3 small dogs and tends to be too much because of his size and energy level compared to the little dogs.

QUINCY has been cat tested and while he would never hurt a cat, he is interested in playing with them. Unless you have a super high-energy cat that loves to wrestle and play with dogs, cats are not a good idea.

QUINCY loves his foster momma and warms up quickly to women, but he is apprehensive around men and will bark. This is possibly because he's had a bad experience with a man before or maybe because he has no experience with men at all. The men we have introduced QUINCY to have had good results ignoring him at first and then bribing him with chicken.

Any men in QUINCY's adoptive household will need to understand that building trust takes time and patience and they will need to be heavily invested in his care (walking and feeding) early on to establish that bond.

QUINCY loves to go for walks and hikes and will require daily exercise. He also enjoys going for car rides. He has been making great strides in his housebreaking and has started indicating when he needs to go out. He will need to be taken outside regularly to reinforce this. QUINCY could also stand a course in basic obedience just like every other dog. In his case it will help with his socialization and the mental exercise is great for balancing out the high-energy.

QUINCY is negative for heartworm and tick born illnesses. He will be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped tomorrow, March 22nd and will be available for adoption by the end of the week.
