MEET PUFFY!

This little muffin is named Puffy! Puffy's an approximately 10 year old Shih Tzu who found his way to Philly's animal control shelter as a stray. Poor Puffy was in immediate need of veterinary care so City of Elderly Love gladly stepped in to help. You see, Puffy had a massive perineal hernia which required a specialty surgery to correct. We're so happy to report that he made a full recovery and is feeling better than ever!

Puffy's age is a best guess based on his body condition and teeth but if it weren't for that, it would be easy to mistake him for a pup! He's got a puppy dog face and great energy. He shows no signs of age, he likes long walks and playing with toys, but mostly loves getting attention from his people.  Puffy is a super social dog. He has struggled with social distancing and has made it clear he would prefer to say hello to everyone he passes on walks. He also likes to say hi to the dogs he passes, but he’s a little more choosy about his dog friends than he is about his human friends. Puffy has shown he can get along with other dogs, he's currently living with one along with a couple bunnies but he would really thrive in a home where he could get all the attention for himself. He is an exceptionally gentle boy so would also do well in a house with kids. Despite his healthy appetite he takes treats very gingerly and he has no issue if you take his food or toys. He’s shown no signs of reactivity, he’s perfectly house trained, crate trained, travels well in a car, shown no separation anxiety, etc. 

Puffy is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He's also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Interested in adopting him?
