Princess's Story

Princess, born around January 23, 2024, was rescued from a rural road in Puerto Rico. Princess weighs about 6 pounds. A kind woman found her and tried to locate her home, but sadly, due to the overwhelming number of stray dogs on the island, lost dogs often go unclaimed. Thankfully, she was taken in and eventually found her way to Joyful Rescues.

Princess is a spirited eight-pound bundle of joy! She's incredibly playful and social but also content in her doggy condo while you're away. She's quite the entertainer, tossing her tennis balls and toys in the air for herself to catch! Princess is mostly house trained and will use the yard, but we also leave pads inside for her, as smaller dogs sometimes can't hold it as long as larger dogs.

She gets along with cats and most dogs her size and loves to run and play chase with them in the yard. Like so many small dogs she does have grade 2/3 luxating patellas and if the kneecap does slip a bit she just lifts that leg and goes on with life until it slips back into place. However, she can be a bit bossy with larger dogs, barking and growling at them. Princess bonds very strongly with her people and can be overwhelmed at adoption events, as she prefers the company of her familiar human friends. Once she gets to know you, though, she's a friend for life! Princess will need a patient groomer as she doesn't care for her feet being touched. Princess is not for just any home, but when she finds the right home she likely to be someone's best dog ever!
Despite her small size, Princess is a great walker and would also be happy in a dog purse. She recently tested positive for Heartworm and has completed treatment successfully.

The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.

Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES

We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Joyful Rescues's Adoption Policy
By adopting a pet you are not only helping the pet you adopt but also others in or needing to come into rescue. Your adoption helps us to keep doing what we do to help area animals stop reproducing and find quality homes for the homeless while providing them the best care we can. Your new family member will take considerable time, attention, patience and money to be properly cared for. Think of your new addition as your baby!! It is not a lawn ornament to be tied in your yard or kept in a basement. Consider the ultimate size of a young pet, how big of a pet can you handle?? Are you ready for an adult DOG or CAT in your family? If not, do not adopt a puppy or kitten - they grow up. Are you prepared for unexpec
