Poptart came to The Animal Care Society from an overcrowded rural shelter. He was just skin and bones when we got him. We are still working on putting weight on him but he has made a lot of progress so far. We aren't sure what all Poptart went through before coming here, but it has left him with some emotional scars. He is very scared of everything and everyone around him. You can tell that he wants so badly to come up to you for affection, but he is just too nervous. We have learned that when he's alone he can be somewhat destructive. This could change once he's in a home but we recommend that he goes into a crate when no one is around to supervise him. Poptart needs to go to a quiet home with a fenced-in yard. Because of his nervousness, he cannot go to a home with children. He seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, but he will steal food or treats from them which could end up causing an unwanted altercation, so he would need to be fed separately from other animals. Poptart needs someone to show him that whatever has happened to him in the past, is behind him.
