Meet Poppy the puppy. Poppy took 17 car rides over two days to get to us from one of our rescue partners in South Carolina.

At just four months old, Poppy is your typical curious puppy. Her pictures don’t do her justice. She is a beautiful wiggly little dog with the shiniest black coat. She currently weighs around 25lbs and we expect that she will eventually weigh around 50-60lbs. She has some pretty big paws to grow into!

This sweet girl loves to play with the other dogs in her foster’s house and run around in the fenced in yard. She has discovered that playing with toys and chewing on Nyla bones are super fun and loves to do both of those things.

She is learning lots of new things in foster care, like that living in a house is pretty cool and that she shouldn’t put her paws on people when she says hi . She loves food (breakfast is her favorite) and is very treat motivated, which should make it easy to teach her all kinds of new things. She’s currently learning to sit and is completely housebroken and crate trained and she comes when you call her.

At night she sleeps quietly and soundly in her crate, once she settles in. She is ready for breakfast and playtime in the morning before she goes back in her crate while we’re at work. She is full of butt wiggles and excitement when you come home!

She gets along great with other dogs and is good at picking up on their cues when they’re done playing. Because she can be a little jumpy and puts her paws on people when she’s excited, we think she would do best in a home with older kids. We’re not sure what she would think about cats. We would want to set up a meeting to see how she does.

We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs.

All our dogs have been treated with dewormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 mths or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption.

We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts.
