Meet -Poppet in Maine
Meet Poppet in Maine, a 10 year-old terrier mix. She is a terrier through and through with a pinch of chihuahua for good measure. Although she weighs 20 pounds, in her mind, she is much bigger--about the size of a small pony. Poppet rules the house and the dog park. She is not shy about expressing herself – be it the need to go out or the desire to play. Upon first encounter she will tell you her life's story. Some say she is sassy.
Poppet likes to run free in a fenced in space, go for long hikes where she can chase a squirrel or walks on the beach where she can chase a seagull or two. At the end of the day, she is looking for a lap to call her own. She will insist on a spot on your bed at night! As irresistible as Poppet is, she wants to be petted on her own terms. The ideal home for Poppet has only one or two adults who are not too social. No children or other pets. Poppet can be reactive with other dogs, crowds, skateboards, bikes, motorcycles, and approaching people. She has attended training and received high marks. She obeys commands for sit, down, stay (limited), and heel. She can be redirected with a tasty treat and a reminder to look at you.
