Poplar is approx 3 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. Poppy was surrendered by her breeder after he had been in trouble with the USDA multiple times for not providing adequate care to the dogs. This Iowa breeder had over 700 dogs on his property and many had medical needs that went untreated.

Poppy is learning the ways of just being a dog. She had her tail docked with the breeder (see pics) and is missing that full golden tail, but when she wiggles her nub it is the cutest thing! Poppy learned quickly to love her person and will follow them around and expect head scratches. She loves balls but is still learning to chase them. She likes the company of other dogs and is learning how to be a dog by watching them. She will require a canine companion in her new home. Poppy does not walk on a leash and is easily spooked. She will require a secure physical fenced yard that is attached to the house (no outside pen). Poppy has not figured out stairs and a home with little to no stairs would be ideal since she is a little big to carry!

Poppy has been around a toddling baby and did very well. She loved to give her golden kisses and didn't mind being stumbled into. She loves to be outside, and it is there when you see her funny golden personality come out. She will jump and bounce and have a big smile on her face. Free at last!

Poppy's adoption fee is $365. She has been treated for ear infections and yeast on her paws. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention.

WE DO ADOPT OUT OF THE AREA, HOWEVER, WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO DECATUR, IL TO MEET THE DOG.

THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS.

IT CAN TAKE AT LEAST 7 DAYS TO PROCESS AN APPLICATION SOMETIMES LONGER DEPENDING ON VOLUNTEER AVAILABILITY AND NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE VOLUNTEERS WITH FAMILIES AND FULL TIME JOBS AND DOGS OF OUR OWN TO CARE FOR.
