Pongo's Story
Welcome to Rescue Pongo!

Pongo is 2-years-old and located in Connecticut.

Pongo comes to us after his owner adopted him from a private party and unfortunately her life circumstances changed dramatically shortly after he joined the family. Pongo found himself moved to another home with three other dogs and no opportunity to get to know each other before being in close quarters. He had significant conflict with another male dog in the home who was also intact at the time. Pongo's owner was eager to improve the situation, she neutered both boys and sought veterinarian support while contacting rescues. She advocated for him until she found a rescue- NNR! - able to do an in-person behaviorist evaluation to better understand how to meet his needs. When NNR learned how to set him up for success we found a great foster who welcomed him in to quiet safety and loving arms.

Pongo immediately snuggled up on the couch with his new foster dad and rests peacefully with no scary male dogs around to worry about.

Due to his experience, Pongo will not be adopted to homes with other male dogs. He had a female dog friend in his home with whom he got along with very well but we are going to let him settle in for a few weeks before allowing well-supervised meets with other female dogs. This guy has had quite the journey and deserves some time to decompress.

Follow Pongo's website profile for updates as we learn more about this special guy!

** Want to send this dog a gift? When you purchase a bib or bandana from our store with the code 4FOSTER they will receive it. The rescue receives the profit from the sale and the foster dog receives a gift!
When purchasing for a specific dog, please include that note in the comments.

Or, purchase one for yourself!
Link for Bibs
https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/product-category/bib/

Link for Bandanas
https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/product-category/bandanas/
