Age: ~6 years
Housebroken: Needs to be on a strict schedule of about every 2-3 hours
Crate trained: Hasn't been crated, but has done well with a sectioned area when his foster is away
Dog sociability: Friendly! Lives with many dogs in his foster home and has been doing well.
Cat sociability: Friendly! Lives with a cat in his foster home and has been doing well.
Kids: Unknown, but may do well with older kids/teenagers
Ideal home: A calm home that can continue to care for Pogo's ongoing medical needs (listed below). He'd love a home with easy access to outside for potty breaks and thick walls as he can be barky.
SSBC (Single Senior Black Chihuahua) looking for love and home cooked meals - meet Pogo! He enjoys longs naps, short walks, cuddling under the blankets, sharing his opinions and making sure he is heard. Dislikes cold weather, the hallmark channel, when dinner is served late, losing at bingo, and cilantro- ick! Pogo is a very good boy and does best when on a strict schedule for potty and eating. Trust us - he knows when it is time to eat! He will not miss a meal if he has anything to say about it (bork! bork!) He sleeps for most of the day. Wears a diaper to avoid accidents in the house but really the accidents are unavoidable because he can't help it as a senior guy. It takes him a little while to fully warm up to his person. He doesn't like being picked up by people he doesn't know.
Pogo's adoption fee is sponsored thanks to a generous donor! He is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, microchipped and heartworm negative. Pogo has heart disease and will take Pimobendan lifelong. Recommend annual monitoring with regular vet and/or cardiologist as needed. Pogo has elevated liver values - he has a history of elevated liver enzymes, and has had an ultrasound to evaluate his liver. He takes Denamarin and Ursodiol to assist with liver function and should remain on this lifelong, and will need annual bloodwork monitoring with his vet, or as recommended. Pogo is a senior dog and may have additional underlying medical issues or needs that have not yet been diagnosed. All senior dogs are recommended to receive biannual wellness visits with your veterinarian to monitor for any changes to their health.
