Pogo is a border collie lovers dream dog - if you love the real border collie in him. He is about 2 years old.
Pogo is energetic, bursting with attentive and love for his people, good with dogs but would rather run with his people, likely not great with cats and should live in a home with small children just due to herding tenancies. He is funny and happy and ready to learn fun activities.
He is a house dog, maybe hobby herding but is very sad when ignored outside. Pogo will do best with a large fenced yard so he chase a ball and get his outside time safely but will also require daily exercises and basic training and training and activities that will challenge his every working brain. All of our young working dogs are adopted with an agreement to provide professional classroom training quickly.
We often adopt same day as the first visit an interview but it is not guaranteed. Some dogs will take multiple visits and adopters are approved based on the best fit for the particular animal being considered. We do not hold pets during the process.
Most dogs who come from the shelter will not be house trained.
Most adoptable dogs will need some reintroduction into a home, potty training, basic manners and social skills. Please be prepared to provide that training and dedication that will be needed.
We do not have any way of knowing if a dog or cat will do well with all children or all other animals.
It is important everyone in the home is introduced to the new pet.
We also require that any family dogs come into meet your potential adoptee. Please be sure your dogs are spayed or neutered and current on vaccines (distemper - parvo and rabies) before bringing them to the shelter.
All dogs must be transported home in a travel crate to transport your new pup home safely.
